The picture posted above is my grandfather and grandmother , my mothers parents.
I’ve come to learn that his father was hauled away as a kid to fight in a war in mexico. For all we know he fought right along with Zapata! I don’t know much about the wars but trust me I’m going to learn real fast!
I learned great stories from my mother but most importantly great lessons.
We tend to worry about the material things in life because we are truly spoiled. We overlook to say hello to our neighbors and miss out on great friendships.
When my grandfather was young it was different times but even then a luxury was sharing a hat with your brother.Flipping a coin to see who would be the lucky one to wear it. A home was being with your family under a non-sturdy roof and being happy to eat beans and stale tortillas everyday. When their house was burned down their neighbors lent a helping hand. His friends were like family they weren’t jealous about what they had, they shared and enjoyed life.
My grandfather lived a happy life he was rich with love and friendship. I plan to teach my children the same.
“The material things we have are not worth anything… when we die it all stays behind.”-My grandfather
I am very happy of what I learned and I can’t wait to have it all organized to one day share with my children!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
