While typically my breakfast growing up consisted of Eggs and beans and anything else we had in the kitchen.
Our plates looked like this paired with tortillas or toast.
Since moving to the east coast the hubs started indulging in lots of his old traditional comfort foods once being Grits for breakfast! I tried them once and they weren’t appealing to me however the kids ate them up.
Now that the hubs is gone I feel like it’s my duty to make things as normal as possible for the kids. So I have to learn to make a food I don’t like.
Thankgoodness for family because they always come thru when you need them most. The hubs aunty made grits, egg, and bacon for the family this weekend. This is typical breakfast on a Sunday morning.
I thought after breakfast there must be a way I can create this food so that not only the kiddos and hubs enjoy it but we can all enjoy it as a family.
I went to Pinterest and created a search for grits. Just wait ’til you see all the yummy stuff pinned dealing with grits. I am so excited I had to make a board I can’t wait to make the pancakes and fritters nom nom nom.
Have you had to learn to make or eat a food not typical to your culture because of someone else? Know of any other grits recipes I may want to try? Please do share!
