When I first started blogging I had no idea what it could become. I was a stay at home mom going through some depression after leaving a job I loved and having two young babies under two. I never shared that because at that time it was just something I was going through and hope I could get over. I needed to find something that would be life changing I didn’t know what but I needed it.
My biggest challenge was learning to deal with the issues that focused on my kids. I decided to start a blog and here I was spilling my thoughts via Growing Up Blackxican (GUB) about how my family is treated differently and all the challenges we have being parents of bi-cultural kids. I soon realized that focusing on the negative did nothing for anyone. Even if it did allow me to vent, the negativity still lingered. I immediately changed my thoughts and focus. I had to stay positive for my sanity but most importantly for my kids! The kids were tiny though, they couldn’t understand then but I knew soon enough I’d have much to explain and share with them. I wanted to find others like us and I wanted to find relatable people! So my journey as a blogger began.
