We were on the train coming back from an event. We had a bag full of swag video games mostly. A family got on the train and sat next to us. The little girl in the family immediately whipped out her 3DS and I whispered to the hubs. “Hey get a game out and give it to the little girl” He grabbed a game and handed it to the little girl. She shook her head and said no thank you. The hubs then handed it to her mom. The little girls eyes lit up she was so excited. Her mom said thank you and smiled at us.
Little Man was content. He not once questioned us giving one of the games we had away. Little Lady on the other hand full of sass decided to say “Hey that’s our game”
The mom was then handing the game back to us saying”are you sure?” I said I am more than sure we have more than enough and we are happy to give.
Little Lady turned to me and said “we share right mom”
I want to say she felt embarrassed knowing this little girl’s mom was about to return a gift we gave her.
And just recently we had the opportunity to give to someone who really needed and deserved it. Little Lady went on the mission with the hubs and I and Little Man joined us when we delivered the grand surprise! The kids were excited and we all felt great about helping.
I will continue to give and donate and I hope my kids truly understand why its important to do so.
