While little man was in school last week the hubs, little lady and myself headed to our local Walmart to purchase toys on behalf of Walmart for a family in need. I took the opportunity to teach Little Lady the gift of giving because the last time we tried she didn’t quite understand.
We went up and down the toy aisle and asked her, “what do you think is a good toy for a baby? What about a little girl like you?”
She asked, “Are these for me?”
We said “No, but they can be added to your Santa wish list.”
We told her the story of a close family at my husband job and she remembered how we helped earlier this year after we found out some heartbreaking news. Needless to say we knew they’d benefit from this and it was no question this was the family we wanted to give these toys to.
We knew she’d remember when we went shopping then and how important it was for us to give to them.
So with the help of the hubs we stuck to a budget and picked up some great gifts for this family.
We had Little Lady help with some of the gift loading and unloading. We really wanted her to know what she was doing was very important even something as little as carrying the gifts from the car to the house.
This weekend we woke up and still in our pjs we started to wrap.
Little Man and Little Lady both pitched in and helped with the wrapping.
We place the gifts under our tree. Our plan to deliver was delayed by the snow. My kids are excited and anxious to deliver these toys but unfortunately daddy will have to deliver without us. We asked him to take a picture for us so that we know they got to the family safely. Little Lady said “It’s a surprise mama. Daddy is going to be Santa for the family”
It doesn’t matter how much you give, or who you give to what’s important is that you give!
Consider giving this year with your families. Walmart + The Salvation Army are collecting toys for Fill the Truck.
