My favorite part of summer is making agua frescas for my kids. I grew up drinking them and have had to learn to make them since moving to New Jersey. I’ve made watermelon agua fresca and agua de platano so I’m excited to make another favorite, Agua fresca de fresas con cream. Strawberries and cream agua fresca is a guilty pleasure for sure. It always hits the spot!
I made this recipe a little different I know most aguas frescas de leche are made with milk but I wanted some more creaminess to it and had some greek yogurt to use up and it worked out!
Let’s make agua fresca!
You only need 5 ingredients and one of them is water This is a great last minute recipe for any summer cookout or hangout. I like to make my aguas on a Friday and make enough for all weekend long.
- 16 oz strawberries
- 3 cup water
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup plain greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- Clean strawberries and remove stem
- To a blender add strawberries, milk, yogurt and sugar
- Blend until liquid
- Add Strawberry mix to a pitcher with water
- Stir and serve over ice.
- Optional: Strain to remove all the seeds before adding to water.
The trick to making agua fresca is really getting the puree to water ratio down. I like mine very watery but when I added the yogurt the consistency was perfect. With milk alone I wouldn’t have gotten the same results.
TIP: consider using almond milk or cashew milk
Once it’s all blended you can filter thru to catch all the seeds or just mix it straight into a pitcher with water.
I don’t add ice directly to my aguas made with milk it changes the consistency. Serve over ice and enjoy!
