I recently finished reading Debbie Macomber’s most recent book, Blossom Street Brides. This was my introduction to Debbie’s wonderful series. Already I am hooked on the Blossom Street Novel Series.
I should say I read and listened to her novel because on days where I knew I couldn’t read I had the audio-book available for me to dive into!
I was excited to read this novel because I related to 2 key things; Young Love and Long Distance relationships. While the book is fiction, Debbie does a great job at creating characters, families and relationships that are relate-able.
The novel quickly lead me on this journey to meet the people and the brides from Blossom Street, a friendly street somewhere in Washington. The residents were not only friendly and inviting but also willing to help. In a yarn store with assortment of yarns and the demand for it, 3 ladies cross paths and become friends.
I should share that my husband and I had a long distance relationship. He lived by the naval base and I lived about 2hours away. In Blossom Street Brides we learn how 2 newlyweds make a long distance relationship work and how communication is definitely key to trust! It’s not easy living miles away from the one you love but the time you do get to spend together is almost magical!
Debbie also shares the story of a blossoming love that is put to the test like most young love is. I was always asked how I knew my husband was the one. After just a short time dating we tied the knot Our engagement was short and we rushed to say I DO! As young couples we’ve had our trials and tribulations and so reading about this couple in Blossom Street Brides only resonated with me more. Much like the couple in this book, we were questioned about our love and every time we let our guard down, time between us became intense. They say love conquers all and Debbie shows us just how!
I also love how Debbie captures the love of a mother. It doesn’t matter if biological or not the love a mother has for her child is one of a kind and the relationship between a grandchild and a grandmother is just as big.
I enjoyed reading the love and trust between these ladies. Debbie Macomber has a great way of capturing the characters friendship as it blossoms over some good ol’ yarn. Quickly the lives of these three women offer some insight into a second marriage, an eager bride to be and a working mom.
