During our time GUBxploring Washington DC we wanted to stop at one of the most famous dining landmarks in DC. That place is none other than, Ben’s Chili Bowl.
It’s located off U street and has been family owned since the beginning 55 years ago.
Ben’s Chili Bowl is authentic to it’s kind and still holds the hearts of many including President Obama and Bill Cosby!
The hubs, kids and I visited after our memorial and monument tour We immediately were greeted. The place looked nostalgic. A diners feel with booths and bar counters. The place was busy and smelled delicious.
On the menu we saw chili everything and we couldn’t wait to order.
The hubs and I had Chili half Smokes. This one is half pork half beef and 100% delicious! All The kids had regular hot dogs and they were just as good. I think they missed out on the chilli but you know how kids are. All dogs came with chips it was simple combo but so flavorful.
Here I am enjoying the Chili Half Smokes with a whole lotta chili YUM!
While the Chili Half Smokes hit the spot the Chili Cheese Fries are by far my favorite! They are so delicious. A must try if you ask me!
Little Lady is our fry loves and even she approved. She was going back and forth from french fry to chip.
Little Man and Little Lady both had shakes they are made in house and are thick and creamy. I loved that there was something for everyone on the menu. Including Vegetarian and Healthier lean choices! We also learned that their burgers are 100% Angus Beef. They also state that their beef chili and vegetarian chili contains NO nuts or wheat!
The hubs loved the Chili smokes so much he had 2! I loved catching this photo of him experiencing Ben’s Chili Bowl. If you are ever in the DC area stop by and mention you heard all about them here on GUB! It is a must try!!!
P.S. Check out our visit on our GUBxploring VLOG from Day Two we visit Ben’s Chili Bowl at minute 11:50
