A great friend of mine use to always tell her daughter “use your words”. I didn’t understand then how important this phrase would be when it came to parenting my own kids. Having a child understand feelings and how to verbally express them can be pretty difficult at times. When my kids get upset they tend to whine or cry sometimes even throw tantrums. I calmly come down to their level and say “use your words, what are you feeling” But still sometimes it’s hard for little ones to tell us what is it that they are feeling. What is a feeling to them anyway?
Well thanks to The Mother Company who make it easy to share with our kids feelings. The Mother Company strives on “helping parents raise good people” with a line of products that help little ones with emotional literacy!
We recently were given the chance to review The Mother Company’s A little Book about Feelings as well as their Feelings Book App!
The book is not only colorful but it has pictures of these cute characters that the kids were so excited about. The story was easy to understand and even created conversations amongst the kids as to why the characters were feeling the way they were. Little man knew from seeing tears that they were sad and little lady loved seeing all the hearts she would say “more love” The book is appropriate for ages 2-6 but even bigger kids can learn from a book about feelings. We were already big fan’s of Ruby from Ruby’s Studio and she happens to narrate the app! The App and book go hand in hand. I love that we can take the feelings book with us everywhere but having it in the app makes play time that much better. The app is interactive with characters saying phrases when they are selected. Our favorite sound is the heart the kids know a heart means love and the beating just made it that much real! Get the app here available for iPhone and iPad
Here is a little video of the kids playing with the App!
Now two GUB readers can have the chance
to try out the Feelings app as well.
