After a recent health related scare with the hubs, I have gone into worry wart mode with the whole family. I don’t see it as a bad thing just a more cautious way of living to have a healthy family most importantly healthy kids. With a heat wave in the 100’s this week I have paid close attention to the kids and making sure they stay hydrated.
As a kid I always had a bloody nose, felt tired, and was very thirsty especially in the summer time. Soon I learned that many of my symptoms were caused from dehydration. So you can imagine when little lady started saying she was tired and thirsty, I felt like I was reliving my childhood summers. The last things I need is for the kids to be dehydrated. After monitoring our habits I soon realized that we don’t drink enough water but we also don’t drink anything aside from our meals. The kids asked for something to drink occasionally too but definitely not enough.
Thankfully I found a solution that seems to be working thus far– A Hydration Reward Chart.
The kids love it especially Little Lady. She knows that it’s important to not only drink water but she knows now that there are different things we can have to put water into our body. It’s educational!
As for the reward I usually pick something we can do as a family. This week Little Lady and I thought it would be a good idea to bake some cupcakes!
I plan to keep this up as long as it stays fun for the kids or at least til the end of summer.
