Growing up I always saw my aunts and grandma dye their hair in various colors. It was almost traditional to see them set up a stool in the back laundry room next to the deep sink ready to dye their hair. I was never interested. I watched from a far. The process seemed long and the fumes were unbearable even though the back door was always left open. It never interested me to dye my hair and I never understood why they needed to do so. That is, until I became a mom and the grey hair started to ruin my style.
Since becoming a mom, I’ve dabbled in different haircuts and some salon hair color. My style isn’t too edgy but I did try highlights and a two tone hairstyle with a bleached portion in my bottom hair layer. It was fun but I never had the guts to really dye all of my hair.
While I am only 29 years old, I never imagined I’d be dying my hair to cover greys at this age. I realize now why my family members dyed their hair often. That’s what my aunts were doing this whole time, it all made sense!
I was happy when Walmart gave me the opportunity to try out L’Oreal Paris’ new Superior Preference Mousse Absolue. A new automatic reusable color ready to use with no need to mix! I thought, “This sounds just like the product for a first time home hair color session!” I was ready to get rid of the grey hair. “This product seems simple to use I’ll definitely give it a try!”
I was excited when I opened up the product and noticed the 2 component aerosol can. The kit came with everything I need in the box- gloves, hair color, care conditioner and instructions. I’ve used mousse before to style my hair and the directions sounded just as easy as shampooing my hair with mousse. I gave it a go and it was super easy to use. There was no mixing of products just a simple switch of caps and push of a button. Lots of shaking, but no need to worry about splatter or tops coming off. The mousse in the hair dye came out white from the product with a slight tint of tan.
I began to apply at my roots and in less than 10 minutes I was done with my shoulder length hair. I still had product left which is awesome. I never saw my family keep hair color even if they had a half a bottle left. Usually there was 2 of my aunt’s with the same hair color. We don’t let things go to waste, you know!
The whole process was easy and the outcome was just the solution I was looking for. I was able to hide away the grey and the color was rich in deep browns. I really enjoyed seeing my before and after. I was happy to do this in the comfort of my home and to know I can continue to do it at an affordable price. This simple process with L’Oreal’s Superior Preference Mousse Absolue has really changed the way I feel about hair color and I can’t wait to touch up my roots and try new colors!
