During my time in Miami recently I was invited by a friend to join her for a Miami Culinary Tour! I must say I am pretty reserved when it comes to trying new foods especially since I don’t eat Marine-Life. I really wanted to learn and see more of Miami, after all this was my 4th trip to Florida and I had yet to explore my surroundings. So on to the South Beach Food Tour we went!
Here our tour guide explained what exactly this wine color beverage was- A Colombian Refajo! While I’m not a beer drinker this wasn’t bad. I’d even say a mix of iced tea and beer… maybe It’s a must try!
We were also served a Colombian empanada with a white fish ceviche cooked in lemon juice! My amiga said it was delicious I can only speak for the Empanada which was crispy and so delicious! It was hands down one of the best empanadas I’d ever had! The green sauce is a very spicy habanero salsa! It’s HOT HOT HOT!
Manolo’s is known for comfort foods mainly argentinian favorites but they had the most delicious out of this world churro. Being Mexican you don’t think you can ever taste a better thing but Let me tell you this Dulce de Leche filled churro is amazing! If you are in Miami stop by and have one or four!
We walked to Ocean Drive where it was full of life! We got a tour of the area and saw amazing architecture as well as trees with grape vines! Something you don’t see near a beach in Jersey or Cali that’s for sure! It was just a beautiful scenery and the air was so fresh!
We learned about the Art Deco buildings and learned about the Versace Mansion being turned into a Restaurant!
We walked over to Naked Taco where we were greeted with delicious margaritas on the rocks and fresh salsa and guacamole chips to dip! The Naked Taco is located under Dream Hotel which is just breath taking from their gold room to their pool deck! The atmosphere there is very laid back and chic!
Home of the BLT I hear this hotel carries so much history! I loved that most of the buildings off Ocean Drive where white and true to the Miami image I had!
The Z Ocean Hotel off Collins Ave was one of my favorite buildings It just looked like a cruise ship and had an amazing lobby. The pool laid right above and had windows into the pool so cool!
Home of the Sun-dried Tomato Hippie Pocket! I still crave this little delight! It was just so full of flavor and the bread is one of a kind! I’d definitely go back for more next time i’m in town!
Tostones with a house-made dressing and Vaca frita slider were amazing! While this is a Polo Norte the most famous cuban chains in Miami it’s name in South Beach was changed to Havana Cafe but trust it’s still a Polo Norte and so delicious! I could eat Tostones all day!!!
Española Way- Milani Gelateria
Little Italy in Miami at it’s best This area is so cute and full of culture. We were invited to sit to dine in many of the restaurants in the area but we were in a mission for a decadent dessert to end our tour- Gelato! Milani Gelato serves delicious house made gelato in a very high tech machine. I had Lemon and Vanilla gelato and I loved them both!
They had a variety of flavors which made it quite hard to choose but I am certain they were all probably just as delicious as the next!
