Little man and little lady are now at the age where they want to wash and shampoo themselves. Very independent babies I have here.
Our bath time routine has slowly been changing but it still is my favorite time to bond with them.
I remember the days when I had to come up with a plan for bathing 2 little ones under 2yrs old. Each day was different. Some days were fun others were not so fun.
I soon realized that keeping them preoccupied was a must as I juggled a bottle of soap in one hand and a wash cloth in the other.
I wish then someone had told me that bath time required a routine.
Here are a few tips I’ve learned on the way:
-make bath time a bonding time. I spent too many nights rushing thru bath time. My little ones love the water. They became crabby once I took them out the water, it was not fun. I now keep them in until little man yell’s “mom, grandpa turn”, which means he’s got wrinkled fingers and he’s turning into a grandpa. J
– make bath time relaxing. Play some music, sing songs, or tell them a story. We have bath time right before bed. The water gets them excited but I learned that keeping it calm and not chaotic really prepared them for bed.
-Try Johnson’s bedtime products. I still run a bath with Bedtime Bubble bath and wash. My kids love bubble bath. I let them play in it as I bathe them and finish off with bedtime lotion after they are all nice and dry.
-have bath time toys at hand to keep them occupied as you get them washed. My kids tried everything to get away from me, toys were the one thing that kept them still and entertained.
– have them help. As I mentioned my now toddlers are very interested in trying to shampoo their hair and wash their bodies. Encourage them! It helps to also use Johnson’s no more tears products.
– be prepared to get wet. Little man and little lady don’t mean to get me wet but it happens and that’s ok. My kids love to splish splash.
