I’ve always been prepared when it came to doctor visits especially those where we get vaccinated. I always try to ask questions before vaccination appointments like:
When and what are the next vaccines due? Also, ask for reading material.
What vaccinations are combined?
What are some of the effects and concerns of the vaccine?
What can I do to relieve my child from pain?
After talking to our doctors it was very easy to be prepared. I always give the kids pain relief before appointments, I plan baths when we return home, and know I’ll be staying up late to monitor fevers through the night. I also learned early that vaccinations aren’t only important as a child but also as a pre-teens and teens .
In my late teens I remember hearing about HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine. I decided to get the vaccination myself after learning about it from my doctor. I thought it was the best decision to protect myself. My experience with HPV vaccine was ok. I did experience tenderness and redness to the vaccine shot area. I recently learned that HPV is given to both boys and girls while browsing through CDC’s website . I plan give the vaccine to the kids especially little lady. Cervical cancer doesn’t run in my side of the family but my husband’s mother has had it and that’s enough for me to say YES.
I understand that the opinions surrounding vaccinations are strong ones. I only know what is best for my family. I never try to change anyone’s opinion I only ask for others to respect my decisions as a parent. I am pro vaccinating my children because it protects them and those they come in contact with.
