There is nothing sweeter than a heart shaped treat for Valentines. One of the hubs and mines favorite Mexican snack are Buñuelos. The crunchy flaky sweet sugary taste had us craving them constantly.
This year I wanted to make the hubs and kiddos some heart shaped Valentine Buñuelos. Let me just say they came out perfect for being the first time!
Let’s Make Buñuelos!
You will need:
-Pie crust
-Cookie cutters
-Oil (preferably vegetable or corn)
-Granulated sugar
-Pink candy sugar
Using your cookie cutters, cut out as many hearts as you can on a sheet. I used one and got 13 different sized hearts.
Mix your candy sugar and granulated sugar I used about half a cup of the mix.
Your frying pan should be half full with oil. At medium high your oil should be hot enough to make buñuelos float not sink.
Once you begin frying they will brown quick flip once and then remove from fire.
Place your hearts on a paper towel to rest and drain the oil before placing in the sugar mix
Enjoy!
Make loads of mini heart Valentine Buñuelos and give them away in treat bags! They make the perfect Valentine!
