Piña para la Niña: Pineapple Strawberry Slush

May 17, 2017 Leave a Comment

what wednesday
Pineapple Strawberry Slush
Our family is obsessed with pineapples as of late. From eating it fresh to adding it to smoothies and slushies. I can’t help but take sips from our smoothies and think Piña para la Niña. Could we be having a baby girl? I guess we will find out soon. For now, we are fighting the summer heat this spring, one Pineapple Strawberry Slush or popsicle at a time.

Make a Pineapple Strawberry Slush

Pineapple Strawberry Slush Popsicles- Ingredients
The ingredients are pretty simple and you can always switch out the juice and fruits to customize your own slush. I like combining an icy mix with a puree. Here is what I use to make our Pineapple Strawberry Slush drinks.

Pineapple Slush- blend
I combine the pineapple ingredients and blend them up to make the icy pineapple mix.

Pineapple Slush
You want an icy smooth mix. If you find it to be too thick add more juice.

Strawberry Peach Puree- blend
Next blend the peaches and pineapples. I find that the peaches help the strawberry puree to be that smooth consistency. I add a little sugar when the strawberries are bitter and also to add a sweetness to contrast the tanginess of the pineapple.

Strawberry Peach Puree
Once blended, it’s time to serve. I usually get 5-7 tall glasses of this pineapple strawberry slush. I add the puree first and then tilt the glass to pour in the pineapple mix for a cool split in the cup. The kiddos like when the two are divided so they can try to mix into a swirl.

Pineapple Strawberry Popsicles
The best part is, rather than trying to save it for later, You can pour the leftovers into popsicle molds to make a treat to enjoy later. My kids love when I make homemade paletas for them. These turn out delicious!

Serving these up in both a slush or popsicle keep the family happy and satisfied. I’m happy they’re easy to make. After all, Piña para la Niña, right? Stay tuned to see if our pineapple cravings are right.
