Read Across America Celebration: Reading to Children with Dr. Seuss

February 27, 2014 1 Comment

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post as a participant in the Walmart Moms Program.

We are so excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with our annual Read Across America celebration! This year the celebration will be even more special as Little Man celebrates at his school for the first time as a Kindergartener.

Reading has always been important in our family. My mother is an advocate for Literacy and Reading Aloud to children. From a young age, she instilled the importance of a book. She has empowered many families in the community where she lives and is an asset to our community because she created The Reading Corners of Santa Ana.

Read Across America is a fun celebration not only to celebrate the great author Dr. Seuss but to remind children how fun and important reading is. My kids are lucky to have books in our personal library, at school and the community library But there are many communities where Libraries have been closed down.

I am happy to share that Walmart is celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Read Across America and making classic books by Dr. Seuss available at an affordable price! Sale starts 2/23/14

We hope to purchase a few of these books to donate to a family or school in need.

whether you are big or small dr seuss books

Walmart has Dr. Seuss beginner books on sale for $5 with a regular price of $8.99 and the Dr. Seuss board books will be $3.50 with a regular price of $4.99 for a limited time.

You too can purchase books online at Walmart.com or in stores look for the kiosk full of fun titles by Dr. Seuss!

My mom has been quoted saying “It’s so important that parents take the time to read aloud to their children in any language.”

With that I am happy to say Walmart also offer bilingual and Spanish Dr. Seuss titles too!

I will continue to read aloud to my kids in English and Spanish! It helps them understand and build their vocabulary as well as escape to a whole different world with their imagination. This year I will treasure the memories of reading to them with Dr. Seuss books like my mother did with me.

We hope you celebrate Dr. Seuss this March 2nd . Check out this fun Activity from our favorite book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Try this Seuss-tastic Snack too!

[…] On my last trip to Walmart I picked up  two Dr. Seuss books that I thought we most definitely had in our library but had discovered we didn’t. I came home and thought with all these delicious Pretzel Crisps we were delivered I could make a Seuss-Tastic Snack in celebration for Dr. Seuss’ Read Across America with our new books! […]
