Leaving my parents and brothers when I moved cross country to New Jersey was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I am not only the oldest but the only girl in my family and the only one with babies aka grand-babies.
Little Man was 1.5 yo and Little Lady was only 7 months old, they were tiny. If I were to have it my way we would have stayed in California but the hubs was getting out the NAVY and transitioning into his next phase in life. I knew the hubs needed my support and most importantly I needed to keep our little family together so off to the East Coast we moved.
Living away from everything I ever knew broke me for a good 2 years. I traveled back and forth to California often. I missed the food, the weather, the people, the language, but even more my family. Phone calls weren’t the same, video messaging became a must and care packages with our favorite things from back home became the Best gifts EVER! I was losing the balance when my family needed me most.
It will be 3 years in May since moving from California. My kids have been on planes, visited states, and traveled cross country at the young age of 3 and 4. They have done more then the hubs and I have at that age. We get to look forward to visiting our family in California every year and that makes it all worth it!
In the midst of it all I realized I needed to be 2xs stronger for my little ones and for the hubs. and that’s when I really embraced the opportunities I was given in life and used them to my advantage.
