Diabetes runs in my family. When I was a kid I remember my Tata (grandfather) learning to care for his diabetes. It was painful, stressful, and costly. As I got older and learned more about our family health history I knew i’d have to learn more about Diabetes because sadly the statistics are up against me.

It’s important I share this information because type 2 Diabetes is common with people of African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander background. It’s also a risk factor the older we get and if we are overweight.

I’m all about preventative care but also love learning about ways to care for something many in my family have dealt with.  I recently learned about ReliOn. ReliOn offers affordable blood glucose monitoring systems that are simple to use and available at Walmart.
