I recently was sent the film Heaven is for Real and I was excited to sit and watching. It didn’t occur to me that this would be the first religious film my kids would watch or the first film they’d really understand death.
I sat close with them and so did the hubs and we began to watch.
Based on the #1 New York Times best-selling book of the same name, “Heaven Is For Real” brings to the screen the true story of a small-town father who must find the courage and conviction to share his son’s extraordinary, life-changing experience with the world. The film stars Academy Award(R) nominee and Emmy(R) award winning actor Greg Kinnear as Todd Burpo and co-stars Kelly Reilly as Sonja Burpo, the real-life couple whose son Colton (newcomer Connor Corum) claims to have visited Heaven during a near death experience.
My thoughts on the film: A unique view and a hopeful outlook at life after earth. It was a great way to discuss Heaven with the kids and learn what they thought too. I didn’t realize that this family had lost a child and so that allowed me to relate and be hopeful that our angel baby is in Heaven. In the video below I share news of our angel baby with our kids and they react.
But first! IT’S MOVE TIME!
When we do family movie time at our house we like to pair it up with a sweet treat. Popcorn can get boring so we created a Movie Snack Inspired by Heaven is for Real
Heave on Earth popcorn rolls is our take on popcorn balls. They are light and fluffy like the clouds in the sky and if you watch the video below you will know when heaven to my kids means up up and away in the sky! Heaven on Earth to me means delicious sweets too!
