We are close to wrapping up our week of celebrating dad. We failed to share that the hubs didn’t come to California. He stayed back in NJ and we are missing him dearly. This is our first holiday without dad and it truly is bittersweet since it’s all about dad and he’s not here.
I crafted with little man and little lady in hopes of feeling just a little better about missing dad. They know dad loves taking pictures and they like to pretend to do daddy’s job.
We were inspired by this craft from Alphamom.com
We like to call ours the DIY Cardboard Camera
To make one of your own here is what you need:
1-A picture something that will fit inside #5
2-Paint preferably black
3-Adhesive-glue, glue dots or double sided tape works best
4-A water bottle lid
5-A small sized lid- like PB top
6-Cardboard
7-Brush or sponge for painting
8-Decorative tape
Let’s get started!
1- Cut out the form of a camera(not pictured) and paint it completely on one side
2-Paint both of your lids
3-Let them dry
4-Trace the lid on the back of your picture. Hold it up to the light to make sure you have everyone in the circle.
5-Adhere the picture into the circle
6-IF you cut 3 tabs on your camera like we did cut off one of the outer tabs It’s good to have an extra incase your child is right or left handed.
7-using a criss-cross method tape down the smaller lid to the outer tab.
8-Fold down all remaining tape over and under.
9-Decorate your camera! We added tape at the bottom of the camera to make it pretty.(Refer to picture below)
All Done!
