Victor Leaton Ochoa was born in Ojinaga, Mexico in 1850. He a Mexican American man that was known to reside in NY, NJ and Texas.
While Victor was best known for his invention the “Ochoaplane” A plane designed with an automobile feel made of 2 bicycle frames among other things it was his invention of the windmill that I knew the kids would love to learn about.
I want to believe that the invention of the windmill was somehow inspired by his interest in aviation.
Little man pointed out that the windmill resembled a plane by the propeller like flaps.
Other inventions by Victor include a magnetic brake, a reversible motor, a rail magnetic brake and a wrench.
Historical Fact: Victor was also known as a revolutionary ultimately causing President Porfirio Díaz to issue a $50,000 reward for Victor “dead or alive.” Victor was later captured and sentenced to jail.
